History
Kings
and queens
Evidence from
archaeological sites suggests we have been cultivating since 15,000
BCE. By 1,495 BCE the first designer gardens were being produced
for Queen Hatshepsut of Egypt. In 540 BCE the Hanging Gardens of
Babylon were built by slaves and peasants directed by King Nebuchadnezzar
II. Gardening was a display of stature amongst the elite and ruling
classes.
